Happiness for others

"Caring about the happiness of others, we find our own."

Happiness comes in all forms. We find happiness externally through the people we surround ourselves with. We share in the joy of our family, friends and colleagues when celebrating their big moments and successes in life. Research tells us there is plenty of happiness to be found in our social connections. The closer we become, the more we have a vested interest in each other's happiness, as we cheer each other on in our pursuits and adventures.

I feel fortunate enough to be surrounded by some amazing people. I have four siblings and twelve nieces and nephews (with one on the way). I have shared in so many of their biggest personal and professional achievements. It's fun celebrating their successes, but it inspires me too. It reminds me of all the good that surrounds us and what we are capable of, whether we are starting a family or a business. I also notice how the happiness of others around me helps contribute to my own level of happiness.

I have seen how my closest relationships provide me with added joy when sharing in their successes and pursuits. I feel a stronger connection to them. My happiness for those around me has even helped me pull myself out of a funk when life is not firing on all cylinders. I have learned to lean into the good stuff that happens around me. Again, it inspires me. It gives me renewed hope for the future. It helps me appreciate the challenges and adventures we embark upon and conquer in life, even when it's the accomplishments of others.

Happiness is all around us. The more we celebrate the accomplishments and successes of others, the more happiness we invite into our own lives. It's that good feeling that we want to keep around. Have you been sharing in any happiness lately with any of your friends or family? Who are you happy for and in what ways are they lifting your Spirits? Let's let the happiness out!
