Blessings from lessons learned

"That which does not kill us makes us stronger."

I recently wrote a post about shedding our former selves and wanted to quote Kelly Clarkson's, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger," but was unable to fit it in. Then I saw the quote above by Nietzche, who deserves the credit since he said it first, although maybe not as boldly as Kelly. 💪🏼 It is a powerful song, as it is a powerful quote. We have all endured misfortune and hardships in our past to varying degrees, and yet we are all still here. Whether we may be currently experiencing the highs or lows on the rollercoaster ride of life, we're all still here to face another day.

I would imagine we have all learned important lessons from pitfalls and setbacks that may have even sent us down a different path while providing us with opportunities for personal growth. Sometimes, things even turn about better than we expected when we are able to dissect the situation and find some meaning. I look at some of the more unfortunate situations in my life and see how they have helped me grow as a person and provided me with the mental strength and the courage I needed to carry on and keep striving.

Being able to overcome past hardships has been the validation I look to when I am faced with new roadblocks or setbacks that require me to dig down deep for solutions and opportunities for growth. It involves taking a real hard look at myself and areas where I can improve when responding to life's mishaps. This way, I can address the issue and resolve it, while possibly finding silver linings in the process. I have found when I ignore the problem, it can persist and worsen when I don't address it. Also, it does not provide me with the opportunity to grow stronger, whether it's mentally, physically, emotionally or Spiritually.

It can be difficult to find the good in situations we perceive as bad. It can be easy to look for a reason to lose faith or want to throw in the towel. Everything that has happened to us has not killed us. We woke up today. We're still here! Maybe everything that has happened has not necessarily made us stronger, but it gives us the opportunity to do so if we are willing to gain a new perspective. That's up to us. What in your life right now is giving you the opportunity to come out stronger on the other side? How might you embrace it as an opportunity for personal growth?
