Spectrum of wellness therapies

"It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold or silver."

I am a big proponent of self-care. I have anointed myself a well-being advocate since that's what I do. I am always looking to help people improve their well-being and quality of life. That's why I started this blog. I feel it is everyone's right to live a life full of purpose and joy. I don't believe we were born to suffer. It is my belief that we are granted the opportunity to play the hand we are dealt in life. How well we play our hand will determine our fate, which brings me back to improving our well-being and quality of life.

I improved my well-being and quality of life by practicing more self-care. One of my favorite self-care practices is utilizing different therapies to sustain my well-being. I have talked about the benefits of talk therapy. Physical therapy is important to sustain our mobility by strengthening our bodies. I have found the physical and mental health benefits of massage therapy, reiki, floatation therapy, grounding, sound therapy, psilocybin, breathwork, and hypnotherapy. These are often referred to as complementary or alternative therapies. I don't think therapies should be frowned upon or disregarded because they are referred to as alternative. They work! Nirvana and Pearl Jam were also considered alternative rock music, whatever that means. 🤷‍♂️

The irony of these "alternative" therapies is they have been around for thousands of years. In the West, we often refer to these therapies as Chinese or Eastern medicine. In the US, we rely more heavily on pharmaceuticals. I know they are necessary in so many ways, but I also feel it's gotten out of control. I think a balance of Eastern and Western medicine can help people heal more efficiently, at a lower cost and without so many side effects. I also feel preventative health measures are vital to living a healthy and happy life. I'm not a doctor. I just read a lot about this stuff. 😁

There are so many other therapies out there that have the ability to help heal people from their physical and mental health issues. Two powerful therapies I love to avoid are meditation and yoga, despite all of the benefits. My ego fights me on this because it helps me let go and let it be, which I prefer! That's why I keep doing it. Minding my own self-care is vital so I can help others improve theirs. And helping others is my favorite "alternative" therapy! 😃
