Always getting wiser

"Experience is the teacher of all things."

- Julius Caesar

There are plenty of downsides to getting older, but one of the best qualities of getting older is that we get wiser with every passing day. There may be days where we may not feel like we learned anything, but we gained life experience. Every day on Earth we are presented with more learning opportunities and accumulate more life experiences. Think about everything you have learned up until today. Imagine everything you will learn from this day forward. Life is one long journey of learning and growing from our experiences.

Experience is what helps us to make smarter choices and provide for better outcomes. There is no substitute for raw experience. This applies to every type of life experience. There is experience acquired in careers, relationships, parenting, hobbies, driving, etc. The more experience we have in any area of our life, the more skilled and comfortable we become. The key is to keep gaining experience. This is where practice helps to make perfect.

The best way to gain experience is to get out and do it. We can read up and watch videos on how to do just about anything, but we are only gaining knowledge instead of experience. While it is important to learn how to do things, the doing is where it's at. Anyone with a college degree knows what's learned in the classroom is only a fraction of what is actually learned on the job. It's that real-world experience that helps to make everything click. This is why internships can be invaluable while obtaining a college degree.

Think about how much you knew when you were half of what your current age is. You most likely have gotten wiser through experience more during the last half of your life than the first half. We can only learn so much in the classroom. The real learning comes by living our lives and racking up all of the different experiences that come our way. Experience is a great teacher. It's how we learn and grow. Ideally, it pushes us to keep leveling up in our own lives so we can keep growing into the best version of ourselves. That wisdom comes from experience.
