Relationships

Simple SELFCARE focuses on improving our overall health, which includes maintaining healthy relationships with the people we interact with on a daily basis, both personally and professionally. The better we feel about the people we surround ourselves with, the more likely we are to live a better quality of life. We can also reconsider relationships we have with vices and compulsive behaviors that may limit our potential to live a healthier life.

Communication

Communication plays a big role in maintaining healthy relationships with others. Too often, miscommunication and lack of communication can lead to unnecessary friction in our closest relationships. Communication helps us resolve issues without them becoming bigger. Communication is also important for accountability toward others who are helping us improve.

Self-Talk: Communicating with ourselves

One of the most important forms of communication as it relates to selfcare is self-talk, which refers to the words we not only say out loud to ourselves, but our thoughts too. According to science, our thoughts create our reality. Phrases like "I can't do this," or "I will never be able to," can become barriers to what we want, while phrases like, "I am going to," or "I'm getting closer," may not guarantee success, but they limit our excuses and increase our effort.
